Context
As Foundations Music’s roster and marketing team grew, the team needed a more consistent way to deliver client work. Its campaigns and content reached millions of people, making accuracy, quality and execution important to both the artists’ public presence and our relationships with their teams.
The artist managers held the work to a high standard. Delivering on that standard was central to earning and maintaining client trust. The team needed shared expectations for assets, approvals and day-to-day execution so that quality remained consistent as the department grew.
My role
I took the initiative to create the digital marketing team’s first SOP handbook, working with the marketing team’s leader and the artist managers to ensure the quality of client deliverables.
I codified asset standards and best practices, turning expectations that had been communicated informally into a repeatable reference for the team. The handbook also gave new team members a clearer starting point for understanding how the department worked.
The operating system
The handbook brought together posting processes, asset deliverable requirements, approval workflows, content calendar management and best practices.
It connected the standards for finished work with the steps needed to produce, review and publish it, giving the team a shared reference for everyday execution.
Results
The handbook became a day-to-day working document and remained in use when I left Foundations Music. It was added to and expanded as the team’s needs evolved, supporting more consistent delivery and preserving knowledge as new people joined.
